Why are some eBay transactions showing up in a different year?
You may notice that your total eBay sales for a year are slightly different in Seller Ledger than they are in eBay. If you investigate further, you may notice that they tend to happen in the months of December and January.
The reason for this is that eBay provides transactions to us in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which is the successor to Greenwich Mean Time. The east coast of the United States is 5 hours behind UTC during standard time, and 4 hours behind during Daylight Savings.
However, it appears that eBay uses your local timezone when reporting totals to you on their website, which means some transactions that occurred very late in the day on December 31 using your local time zone may appear to us as having occurred on January 1 using UTC.
We are exploring whether to implement timezone support in Seller Ledger as well, but wanted to provide this explanation to help users understand these potential small discrepancies.
