Can I upload mileage trips in bulk?

To help reduce the time necessary to track and claim mileage deductions, Seller Ledger makes it possible to upload trip data in comma-separated file format (CSV.) There are only a few requirements for this formatting, but failure to follow them could result in the file causing an error upon upload.

Column headers

In order for Seller Ledger to know what information is in which column, we require that the first row of the file include a name that describes the data within that column.

Column names:

  • date (all lowercase) - please use a format of "YYYY-MM-DD" - for example, for a trip on January 15, 2025, you would use "2025-01-15"
  • description
  • distance - this can be whole numbers or with a decimal

Formatting values

Within each column, you'll also want to make sure to format your data in a way that Seller Ledger can recognize.

Values:

  • date: please use a format of "YYYY-MM-DD" - for example, for a trip on January 15, 2025, you would use "2025-01-15"
  • distance - this can be whole numbers or with a decimal

Just like when you manually enter trips one at a time, Seller Ledger will calculate the amount of the mileage deduction by looking up the data and applying the correct IRS standard mileage rate for that date.
