Meet April, Seller Ledger’s automated bookkeeping assistant
April is Seller Ledger's built-in automated bookkeeping assistant. She's available directly inside Seller Ledger to answer questions, help you understand your business, and even help you get bookkeeping work done.
To talk with April, just click the blue “Ask” button in the lower right corner of Seller Ledger.
What can April help me with?
April is more than a traditional support chatbot. In addition to answering questions about how Seller Ledger works, she can use information from your Seller Ledger account to answer questions about your business and help you complete certain bookkeeping tasks.
For example, try asking April:
- “How much money did my business make last week?”
- “Can you help me with uncategorized transactions?”
- “Can you help me record a mileage trip?”
- “Can you record a cash expense of $45 for office supplies?”
April's capabilities are growing quickly, so these are just examples. We're continuing to teach her new ways to help with the day-to-day work of keeping your books organized.
Can April make changes to my data?
Yes. April can now help perform certain tasks in Seller Ledger, including categorizing transactions and creating certain types of transactions.
When April is going to make a change to your books, she'll walk you through the process and make sure she has the information she needs. She will also ask you to confirm any changes before making them.
Is April a replacement for an accountant or bookkeeper?
No. April isn't intended to replace accounting professionals.
Our goal is to make it easier to handle the everyday work involved in keeping your books organized. April can help answer questions, find information, and take care of some of the bookkeeping tasks that might otherwise require you to hunt through the software or enter information manually.
Ideally, that means less bookkeeping drudgery for you — and cleaner, better-organized books when it's time to work with your accountant or tax professional.
Can I still get help from a real person?
Absolutely.
April isn't a replacement for the Seller Ledger product team. She's another way for us to provide faster and more useful help.
At the top of April's chat window, you'll always find an “Email a live person” link. If April can't answer your question, you aren't satisfied with her answer, or you'd simply prefer help from a person, click that link.
We'll receive your conversation with April so you don't have to start over or explain the problem again. A member of the Seller Ledger product team can then follow up with you directly.
What if April makes a mistake?
April can make mistakes. Artificial intelligence is improving quickly, but it isn't perfect.
If an answer doesn't look right, ask April for clarification or use the “Email a live person” option to send the conversation to our team.
And when April helps make changes to your books, we recommend reviewing those changes to make sure they reflect what you intended.
Does using April mean my data is being shared with an outside AI platform?
April does use artificial intelligence provided by an outside platform, but we don't send your Seller Ledger data to that company to retrieve information about your business.
Instead, artificial intelligence helps April interpret what you're asking. Seller Ledger then uses that information to query your business data within our own systems. AI can also help April turn the results into a response that's easy to understand.

April is just getting started
We're continuing to expand what April can do.
Our goal isn't simply to build a better way to answer support questions. We want to make working with Seller Ledger easier by letting you increasingly ask for what you need instead of figuring out how to do it yourself.
That might mean asking a question about your business, getting help cleaning up uncategorized transactions, recording an expense, or completing other bookkeeping tasks as we add them.
And throughout that evolution, the Seller Ledger product team will remain right behind April whenever you need us.
