Troubleshooting your Whatnot connection
Seller Ledger can automatically import your Whatnot orders, fees, and payouts using Google Chrome and the Seller Ledger Browser Extension. If the connection isn't working, the steps below fix most problems.
For an overview of how the automated Whatnot import works, see How do I automate my Whatnot data import?
Before you start: a quick checklist
Make sure you have:
- An active Whatnot selling account. See Step 1 below.
- Google Chrome. The automated Whatnot import only works in Chrome. If you don't have it, you can download Chrome here.
- The Seller Ledger Browser Extension installed in Chrome. Go to our extension's listing on the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.
Step 1: Make sure you have an active selling account in Whatnot
Seller Ledger imports your seller activity from Whatnot, such as sales, fees, and payouts. If the Whatnot account you log into is only used for buying, there's no seller data for Seller Ledger to import, and the connection won't work.
To check:
- Open Whatnot in Chrome and log in.
- Confirm that your seller setup is complete and that you can see your seller tools, such as your sales and payout history.
- If you can't find any seller information, finish setting up your selling account with Whatnot first. Then come back to Seller Ledger and connect.
Tip: If you have more than one Whatnot account, such as a personal buying account and a separate selling account, check which one you're logged into. Seller Ledger needs to connect to the account you sell from.
Step 2: Log out of Whatnot
If you're already logged into Whatnot in Chrome, the connection may try to use that account. That could be the wrong account, or a login session that has expired. Logging out first gives you a clean start.
- Open Whatnot in a Chrome tab.
- Log out of your Whatnot account.
- Close that Whatnot tab.
Step 3: Connect to Whatnot from within Seller Ledger
Next, start the connection from inside Seller Ledger rather than from the Whatnot website.
If you're connecting Whatnot for the first time:
- Log into Seller Ledger in Chrome.
- Go to the Connect Accounts page.
- Click the Whatnot button.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. They will confirm that you're using Chrome and that the Seller Ledger Browser Extension is installed.
- When asked, log into Whatnot using the login details for your selling account.
If you already have a Whatnot account in Seller Ledger (for example, you used to upload CSV files):
- Log into Seller Ledger in Chrome.
- From your dashboard, click into your existing Whatnot account.
- Look for the message in the upper right corner of the account view and follow its instructions.
- If a pop-up asks you to, log into Whatnot using the login details for your selling account.
Once you're connected, Seller Ledger will begin importing your Whatnot order and payout history.
Still not connecting?
If you've followed the steps above and still can't connect, try these:
- Check that the extension is turned on. In Chrome, click the puzzle-piece (Extensions) icon in the toolbar. Make sure the Seller Ledger Browser Extension is listed and turned on.
- Allow pop-ups. The Whatnot login may open in a pop-up window. If Chrome blocks it, look for the blocked pop-up icon in the address bar and allow pop-ups for Seller Ledger.
- Close and reopen Chrome. Then repeat Steps 2 and 3.
- Confirm you can log into Whatnot directly. If your Whatnot login doesn't work on Whatnot's own website, you'll need to sort that out with Whatnot first.
