How do I remove duplicate or non-business transactions from a connected account?
Because Seller Ledger is based on linking actual bank and eCommerce platform accounts, we don't let customers simply "delete" imported transactions. However, there are a small number of cases (mostly from poorly supported banks like Fifth Third Bank) where duplicate transactions sometimes show up. Or perhaps a personal or non-business transaction is showing up as "other" income or expense. Well, removing these transactions from your business books is simple with one of two simple options:
Hide transactions
If you find a duplicate transaction, the best thing to do is choose the "Categorize" button and select "hide". This removes the transactions from that linked account, as well as any reports and tax summaries for the business. If you make a mistake and need to access a "hidden" transaction, fear not - under the Filters -> Type drop-down, you can select "Hidden" to see all of those transactions you've removed from the account.
Not-for-Business
If you have transactions that are not related to your business (for example, owner draws, personal expenses, etc,) but those transactions do properly impact the balance of an account, you'll want to choose "Categorize" and select "Not for business." This will remove that transaction from tax and report calculations, but will continue to show it in the account.
What about transfers between accounts?
This is another good example of a potential transaction type that shouldn't impact your taxes or profit and loss. You can learn more about how to properly handle them in this support article.
