How do I avoid horizontal scrolling in Seller Ledger?

Some pages in Seller Ledger have a lot of columns. Examples include the Profit & Loss report with monthly columns, account transaction lists, and inventory tables. On smaller screens or laptops, these pages may not fit in your browser window, so you have to scroll left and right to see everything.

Seller Ledger doesn't have a display or layout setting of its own. The easiest fix is to adjust the font size or zoom level in your web browser. Making text slightly smaller lets more columns fit on screen, which usually removes the need to scroll sideways.

The quick fix: zoom out with your keyboard

The fastest way to fit more on your screen is to zoom out with a keyboard shortcut. This works in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge.

  • Zoom out: Press Ctrl and – (minus) on Windows, or Cmd and – on a Mac.
  • Zoom in: Press Ctrl and + (plus) on Windows, or Cmd and + on a Mac.
  • Reset to normal size: Press Ctrl and 0 (zero) on Windows, or Cmd and 0 on a Mac.

Press the zoom-out shortcut once or twice, to about 90% or 80%. Stop when the page fits your window without a horizontal scroll bar.

Tip: Most browsers show a small magnifying glass icon in the address bar when you've zoomed in or out. Click it to see your current zoom level or reset it.

The longer-term fix: change your browser's font size

If you'd rather not zoom out every time, you can make text smaller in your browser's settings. This change applies to all websites, not just Seller Ledger.

Google Chrome

  1. Click the three-dot menu in the upper right corner of Chrome.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Appearance in the left-hand menu.
  4. Next to Font size, choose Small (the default is "Medium").
  5. If you want, you can also change Page zoom to a lower percentage, such as 90%.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the three-dot menu in the upper right corner of Edge.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Appearance in the left-hand menu.
  4. Find the Zoom setting and choose a lower percentage, such as 90%.
  5. You can also adjust Font size under the Fonts section.

Safari (Mac)

  1. Click Safari in the menu bar at the top of your screen.
  2. Click Settings (on older versions of macOS, this is called Preferences).
  3. Click the Websites tab.
  4. Click Page Zoom in the left-hand list.
  5. Find app.sellerledger.com in the list and choose a lower percentage, such as 85% or 90%.

This lets you set a smaller zoom level for Seller Ledger only, without affecting other websites.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click the menu button (three horizontal lines) in the upper right corner of Firefox.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. On the General panel, scroll down to Language and Appearance.
  4. Under Zoom, change Default zoom to a lower percentage, such as 90%.
  5. You can also change the text size under Fonts.

Does the zoom level stick?

It depends on your browser:

  • Chrome, Edge, and Firefox usually remember the zoom level you set with keyboard shortcuts for each website. If you zoom out on Seller Ledger, it should stay zoomed out the next time you visit, and your other websites won't change.
  • Safari doesn't always remember zoom levels set with keyboard shortcuts. Use the Page Zoom setting described above to make the change stick for Seller Ledger.

Other tips that can help

  • Maximize your browser window. If your browser isn't filling the whole screen, maximize it to give Seller Ledger as much room as possible.
  • Scroll sideways more easily. If you still need to scroll horizontally:
    • On a trackpad, swipe left or right with two fingers.
    • On a mouse, hold Shift while you turn the scroll wheel.
  • Narrow down your report. On reports like the Profit & Loss, viewing a shorter time period (for example, quarterly instead of monthly) means fewer columns to fit on screen.
  • Printing or saving a wide report? See How do I print reports and other pages? for tips on saving pages as PDFs.
